The service

&figs is a recipe notebook at andfigs.com and in the iOS app. These terms are a contract between you and the operator of that service (“&figs,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the product you agree to them. If you use the service for an organization, you also represent that you can bind it.

Accounts

You need an account for a library, cook mode across devices, comments, and most writing features. Keep your password, passkeys, and API keys to yourself. You are responsible for activity on the account. We may close an account that is inactive, abusive, or created under false details.

You must be at least 13. Paid subscriptions and creator payouts require you to be old enough to form a contract where you live, usually 18.

Your recipes and other content

You keep the rights you already have in recipes, photos, comments, and profile text you add. You grant &figs a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, display, adapt for cook mode and search, and (for public or subscriber-gated recipes) distribute that content as needed to run the product. That license ends for a piece of content when you delete it or make it private, except for copies already cached, backed up, or shared by other people.

You decide whether a recipe is private, public, or gated to subscribers. Public content can appear on Discover, in search, and in search-engine results. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share.

Imports and sources

The importer fetches a page you point it at and drafts a structured recipe. You are responsible for having the right to copy, adapt, and store that material. Credit the source when you should. A list of ingredients is often not protected; headnotes, photographs, and distinctive wording usually are. See Copyright if you believe something on &figs infringes your work.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• Break the law, or upload malware or illegal content.
• Harass people, impersonate others, or scrape the service in a way that burdens it.
• Bypass paywalls, visibility settings, or technical limits.
• Use the API or an automated client to spam, bulk-copy other people’s private recipes, or evade rate limits.
• Present generated text or images as professional medical, nutrition, or legal advice.

We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules.

Subscriptions and payouts

Some cooks charge a monthly fee for gated recipes. Checkout and payouts run on Stripe. &figs keeps a platform fee; the percentage is shown in Settings when you connect payouts. Stripe’s terms also apply. Prices are set by the cook. Refunds, chargebacks, and tax reporting are handled through Stripe. We can change or end paid features with notice.

API

API keys act as you. Keep them secret, rotate them if they leak, and delete keys you no longer need. We may throttle, change, or revoke API access. The current contract is published at /api/v1.

Our rights

The &figs name, mark, site design, and software are ours. These terms do not give you a right to copy the product, reverse-engineer it except where the law allows, or use the mark in a way that suggests we endorse you.

Cooking is on you

Recipes, nutrition figures, timers, and assistant replies are information, not professional advice. Food safety, allergens, substitutions, and whether a method is right for you are your responsibility. Some descriptions and images are generated automatically and can be inaccurate.

Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the fullest extent the law allows, &figs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for a claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of ten U.S. dollars or the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify &figs against claims that arise from your content, your use of import or the API, or your breach of these terms, except to the extent we caused them.

Ending the service

You can stop using &figs at any time and ask us to delete the account. We can suspend or end access if you breach these terms, if we have to for legal reasons, or if we shut the product down. Some sections survive: your content license for copies already made, payments already processed, disclaimers, and this sentence.

Changes and law

We may change these terms by posting a new version on this page. The date at the top will change. If you continue to use the service, you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If a court finds a part unenforceable, the rest still applies.
